Introduction

Chapter 1 introduces and motivates the concepts of intermittent information and intermittent feedback in control systems. Our methodology in its most general form is presented in Chapter 2 and the remainder of the book, except for Chapter 5, which is reserved for event-based scheduling in multiloop NCSs, which unfolds from this chapter. Basically, Chapters 3{8 (save for Chapter 5) devise additional results and apply the methodology of Chapter 2 to several plant-controller and MAN problems illustrating its versatility and effectiveness. Chapters 2{5 are dedicated to plant-controller settings, while multi-system settings are reserved for Chapters 6{8. In case the reader is interested merely in one of the problems from Chapters 3{8, we suggest to first read Chapters 1 and 2 before moving to the corresponding chapter. In order to follow the results in Chapter 5, the reader may even skip Chapter 2.
